Dostum SMS syncs standard SMS text messages your phone receives. RCS chats (the newer chat features inside apps like Google Messages) and messages from apps like WhatsApp or Telegram chats are not SMS, so they are not synced. If a message arrives as a normal SMS, it syncs; if it arrives as RCS/chat, it does not.

No. On the welcome screen just tap “Try without an account” and set up your destination — you can start syncing in under a minute. Creating an account is optional and you can do it later if you want to.

They aren’t stored on our servers — ever. When a text arrives, Dostum SMS delivers it straight to the destination you chose (your email inbox, or your own Telegram bot) and keeps no copy on any Dostum server. The only place your message ends up is the inbox or chat you control.

Only RECEIVE_SMS — the permission needed to see a new text as it arrives so it can be synced. Dostum SMS does not read your existing SMS history, your contacts, or your call logs, and it never sends SMS. It also needs internet access to deliver each message to your destination.

The most common cause is Android battery optimization pausing the app in the background. To keep sync reliable, exclude Dostum SMS from battery optimization: Android Settings → Apps → Dostum SMS → Battery → Unrestricted (wording varies by phone). The app’s home screen also shows an honest status so you can see at a glance whether it’s actively listening.

Because no message content is stored on our servers, there’s nothing to purge server-side. If you created an account, you can delete it from the app or from our delete-account page, which removes your account record and wipes the app’s on-device history and settings. Emails or Telegram messages already delivered to your own inbox stay with you — remove those from your own account if you wish.
